Jupiter Travel Guide | Hobe Sound, Tequesta | Best Vacation Rentals

Jupiter, Florida is known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise water, and a laid-back yet upscale feel. From a rare rocky shoreline to paddling a federally protected river, there’s a lot to experience in a relatively small area. Here are five ways to make the most of your visit, plus two standout vacation rentals that will make your time in Jupiter even more special.

1: Visit Blowing Rocks Preserve

Blowing Rocks Preserve, known for its rare rugged shoreline made of Anastasia limestone, is a hidden gem just north of Jupiter in Hobe Sound. Visitors can swim, snorkel, and enjoy the 70-acre coastal preserve.

Plan your visit around high tide for the best experience, when waves crash against the rocks and send water shooting into the air.

2. Climb the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse

Jupiter is home to one of Florida’s most iconic lighthouses. You can climb 105 steps to the top for views of the Loxahatchee River, Indian River, and Atlantic Ocean

Built in 1860, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is the oldest structure in Palm Beach County.

3. Paddle the Loxahatchee River

See the wild side of Jupiter by paddling the Wild & Scenic Loxahatchee River with Jupiter Outdoor Center at Riverbend Park. Guided and self-guided rentals are available.

Expect tea-colored water, towering cypress trees, and frequent wildlife sightings. I spotted alligators, birds, and turtles on my journey.

4. Explore Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Jonathan Dickinson State Park, just north of Jupiter and spanning more than 10,000 acres, is one of the most popular parks in Florida.

You can easily spend a full day here, by climbing Hobe Mountain, biking the trails, kayaking the Loxahatchee, or taking a boat tour to Trapper Nelson’s Homestead. Glamping is also popular at the park.

5. See Busch Wildlife Sanctuary

You can get up close with native Florida wildlife, including Florida panthers and bobcats, at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, a nonprofit focused on rehabilitation and education.

The updated campus opened in late 2023 and has walking paths that take you past black bears, owls, turtles, and more. Admission is free.

Top Vacation Rentals in Jupiter: The River House & Whispering Woods Cottages

If you’re planning to stay a few days, these two vacation rentals are great places to stay.

For those wanting to be on the water, The River House sits along the Loxahatchee River and is a good fit for groups or families, with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and living space across two floors. It’s also the only rental in Jupiter that comes with a boat, making it easy to explore the waterways.

The outdoor setup is a standout, with a private beach, tiki hut, second-story deck, and a large hot tub.

For something more secluded, Whispering Woods Cottages is a quiet escape surrounded by lush Florida landscape.

The property has a main cottage with two bedrooms and a smaller cottage next to the pool, making it ideal for couples or small families.

While it feels tucked away, you’re still just a short drive from Jupiter’s main attractions.
