Four Epic Florida Family Adventures (As Seen on Great Day Live)
It’s hard to believe we’re nearly halfway through summer break! The good news is that there’s still plenty of time to squeeze in an epic family adventure before school is back in session. From shark encounters in Key West to a real-life castle in Central Florida, here are four unforgettable experiences worth adding to your summer bucket list.
1. See Sharks Up Close with Key West Extreme Adventures
If your kids love Shark Week, this tour is for you. The Key West Extreme Adventures Shark and Wildlife Tour has been a visitor favorite for more than a decade. After a short boat ride offshore, you'll have the chance to see lemon sharks up close in their natural habitat. The crew uses scent and bait to bring the sharks near the boat, creating an experience that feels like a live episode of Shark Week.
One tip: Record video in slow motion so you can really appreciate the speed and power of the sharks as they compete for the fish.

2. Explore Everglades National Park on a Cypress Dome Wet Walk
If your family is looking to dive deeper into Everglades National Park beyond an airboat ride or tram tour, consider a Cypress Dome Wet Walk with the Everglades Institute.
Tours depart daily from the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center in Homestead. During this two-hour guided experience, naturalists lead you to a cypress dome while using walking sticks to help you navigate the walk through the water. Along the way, you'll see towering cypress trees, air plants, and the peaceful side of the Everglades that many visitors never experience.
This adventure is best suited for ages 12 and older (minimum height of 54 inches). Long pants, long socks, and fully closed-toe shoes are required.
3. Ride Horses at Sunset at Lake Louisa State Park
Known for its rolling hills and beautiful lakes, Lake Louisa State Park is one of the most scenic places in Central Florida to explore on horseback. For an extra-special family memory, book the sunset trail ride. You'll ride through the park before ending the evening around a campfire with charcuterie, s'mores, and champagne for the adults.
Not ready to head home? Turn your visit into an overnight getaway by glamping with CareFree Camping. Their air-conditioned luxury tents include a queen bed, with the option to add up to two twin airbeds for kids. Bathrooms and showers are just a short walk away.

4. Tour the Whimsical Solomon's Castle
One of Florida's most unique family attractions is located about 90 minutes from St. Pete and feels like something straight out of a storybook. Solomon's Castle was created by artist Howard Solomon, known as the "DaVinci of Debris." The castle is covered in recycled aluminum printing plates and has more than 80 stained-glass windows, and whimsical sculptures.
Guided tours last about 45 minutes and offer a fascinating look inside one of Florida's most unusual attractions. No photos or videos are allowed inside the castle. Afterward, grab lunch at the famous Boat in the Moat Restaurant, where you can dine inside the boat or enjoy a table beneath the shade of beautiful oak trees.
Heads up: Solomon’s Castle does not accept credit cards, so be sure to bring cash or a check.
