Williston Area Travel Guide

Williston, the largest city in Levy County, is best known for its unique springs that draw snorkelers and divers from all over Florida and beyond. With only around 3,000 residents, it still has a small-town feel that makes it easy to settle in and explore like a local. Here are five easy ways to spend a weekend in Williston.

Grab Coffee at Sad Donkey

Start your day in Williston at Sad Donkey Coffee, at Williston’s Homestead Tiny House Resort. The family-owned shop, named after one of the founder’s beloved former horses, serves coffee, tea, frappuccinos, and sweet treats.

Explore Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring

One of Florida’s top scuba and snorkeling destinations is located just outside downtown Williston. Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring attracts visitors from around the world. Snorkeling and scuba diving are popular year-round in the spring, which stays a constant 72 degrees. You may spot fish and turtles while swimming inside the cave.

Wander Cedar Lakes Woods & Gardens

Cedar Lakes Woods & Gardens, next to Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring, spans 20 acres inside a restored, century-old limestone quarry. Visitors can explore more than 50 garden displays, along with koi ponds, waterfalls, and walking paths.

4. Grab lunch at Sister’s Place

Sister’s Place, in downtown Williston, has been a favorite with locals and visitors since 2018. It’s a go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is served all day! Don’t miss the Sister’s Delight: four crispy fried green tomatoes, two eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. It’s filling and worth the stop.

5. Stay at Black Prong Resort Near Williston

Spend the night at Black Prong Resort, a comfortable and upscale option for outdoor and equestrian lovers. Guests can choose from private resort cabins or country cottages, some with optional stabling. During your stay, dine at Black Prong Whiskey Bar & Grill and book a trail ride with Black Prong Adventures to explore Goethe State Forest on horseback. It’s a convenient and luxurious home base for exploring the area.
